What should come first - Hair colour or perming/rebonding?

Perming : Hair colour can be applied before or after perming, as long as you inform your stylist so that he/she can use the correct perming solution according to your hair type. Rebonding: As the rebonding process tends to leave the hair less shiny, it is best to colour you hair after the process.
How do I keep my hair colour looking fresh between applications?

Ue shampoos and conditioners specially created to protect and care for coloured hair. Most of the time these will contain "colour locking" ingredients as well as UV filters. Try to avoid using dandruff shampoos as these accelerate colours fading.

Will I have a more vivid colours result if I leave the hair colour for longer than the instructed time?

NO. The development time as stated in the sintruction leaflet is sufficient to give you the desired colour result. A "stopwatch" is built into the formula, so the colour automatically stops developing after a certain period of time.

Will using a shower cap during the development time make the hair colour develop faster?

The shower cap will concentrate the heat, thereby hastening the development time. However since the development time stated inth instruction leaflet has been tested on uncovered hair, using a shower cap is not recommended as it will give you unpredictable results.

Is Ammonia harmful??

Ammonia is a necessary ingredient in the hair colouring process, responsible for opening the cuticle and activating the Peroxide so colouration can occur. L'Oreal uses the lowest levels needed to produce efficient results with no adverse effects on the health unless one is allergic to it.

Can I use hair colour when I have falling hair?


When your hair loss is above the normal range of 50 -100 hairs per day, it is best to seek medical advice to ascertain what is causing the hair loss.

How long can I keep an unopened package of haircolour?

L'Oreal haircolour products will keep indefinitely if unopened and stored at normal room temperatures away from direct sunlight. It is best, however, to use your hair colour products within three years of purchase.

What causes hair colour to fade?

Frequent washing with the wrong shampoo, blow drying and exposure to the sun, pollution, salt, water and chlorine all cause fading.

Do I have to wash my hair before colouring?

Yes, if you have applied oil-based styling products, or if the hair is extremely oily - this will make it difficult for the active ingredients to penetrate the hair.
